New Poll Shows Toomey Maintaining Lead Over Sestak
In Pennsylvania, today’s Morning Call/Muhlenberg tracking poll finds former businessman Pat Toomey maintaining his lead over liberal Congressman Joe Sestak. CQ Politics reports:
The latest Morning Call/Muhlenberg tracking poll finds Pat Toomey (R) still leading Rep. Joe Sestak in the U.S. Senate race, 47% to 42% with 12% still undecided.
And the Wall Street Journal reports that early voting figures show a “strong Republican tilt,” as Republicans’ wide enthusiasm advantage plays out in the Keystone State:
The latest absentee ballot statistics released this afternoon by the state of Pennsylvania show a strong Republican tilt in the Keystone State, a bad sign for Democratic candidates up and down the ticket. According to the secretary of state’s office, 53,226 absentee ballots have been returned by registered Republicans in Pennsylvania compared with 37,631 by registered Democrats. Worse still for Democrats, the enthusiasm gap pollsters have predicted appears to be coming true. So far, Democrats have returned 55% of the absentee ballots they requested. Republicans have returned 67%.
